Gordon's Mustang

Back

Gordon has owned the Mustang since 2002 when he came across the car lying smashed in a local man's garage in Tarland. The car had been in an accident, pushing in the front end and damaging the back of the car as well. The wheels were also knackered too. The car is a 1965 model built in the US in September 1964, arriving in the UK in 1990. Off the production line the car was fitted with a 4.7L (289cu in) V8 engine, which develops the 230bph and drives the wheels through a three speed Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission. He gets around 20mpg.

Luckily Gordon is a mechanic with over 30 years experience so taking on the restoration project he was at an advantage!

Using a jig at the garage he works for he straightened out the body in 2003. The next job was to replace the other damage. Wings, headlights & panels were eventually found in the UK. On a visit to relatives in Canada he stumbled across a Mustang Shop and took full advantage of the baggage allowances to get stuff for the car home again!

Now with over 500 hours of painstakingly hard work I am sure you will agree the Mustang is indeed a stunning piece of work.

Like a closer look?? Then you can see the Mustang in all her glory at any of the events listed on the events page. Don't be shy and come over and I'm sure Gordon will be happy to tell you more about this beautiful car!!
