Lachie's Trans Am

"The Bandit"

Once seen - never forgotten!! A very true statement if you've ever seen and "heard" Lachie with his Trans-Am at various events throughout Scotland!!

Lachie has had a passion for American and Classic cars for over 6 years now, as well as the Firebird he has a 1972 Jeep Wagoneer 4.3. A 1963 Customised Morris Minor and a 1960 Morris Minor. But for now we will concentrate on the Firebird.

The car is a 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am with a roaring 6.6 V8 engine. He has fitted a Hedman Header, a 750 Holley Carb and also cherry bomb exhausts. Making this car one of the noisiest Firebirds this side of the Atlantic! You certainly hear the car well before you see it, maybe glancing skywards mistakenly for a passing helicopter!

The Trans-Am, being the style used in the classic Smokey & The Bandit Movie is of course associated with  wheel spinning manoeuvres and high speed cop chases. Lachie is quite delighted to partake in the sport of burning out as many tyres as possible in a season, and if lucky enough to attend a show where there is a spot of tarmac, allowing drivers to give demonstrations, you only need to look for the ever growing billowing smoke cloud to locate Lachie!!!!!
